| Our
original building from 1894 still stands on the corner of McGloin
Street and Fisher Avenue here in the 'Ville'. In 1950 we moved up
the hill, behind the mill, in the ville. There was a building and
property here that was owned by the United Baptist Church and was
known as 'Olivet'. That's when we changed our name to "Olivet
Wesleyan Church".
Fast forward
50 years to the year 2000 and you would see a church of approximately
200 people with a strong history of solid biblical ministry. "Olivet"
entered a new season of renewal and growth in 2007. New staff were
hired, finances increased, many renovations were done to the property,
and the church added a second service to accommodate the growth.
The church averaged close to 300 in the Spring of 2008.
We're not entirely
sure of what the future holds but we know that we must continue
to change and stretch as God blesses and leads us. We have a modern
approach to ministry while appreciating our heritage. This commitment
to multi-generational church is part of what makes Crosspoint special.
People of all ages are willing to lay aside personal preferences
for the greater good.
Crosspoint is
crazy about seeing people connect with Jesus!
